Conferencia «Cruise Cities in the Northern Atlantic»

El próximo miércoles 22 de febrero, la profesora Janine Schemmer (University of Klagenfurt, Austria) impartirá una conferencia en el Aula B12 en horario de 17.00 a 18.45 (Campus de El Obelisco, antiguo IES Teresa). La entrada es libre hasta completar el aforo.
El título de su ponencia será “Cruise Cities in the Northern Atlantic”. La profesora Schemmer realizará una estancia corta en la ULPGC, en el marco del programa Erasmus +.
Cruises cities in the Northern Adriatic
Cruise ships are currently among the most popular and at the same time most controversial means of transport. The oversized ship in the setting of the historic center of Venice became an iconic image. Starting from the protests against big ships, the project explores the background of the debate, and sheds light on the spatialisation of the cruise industry in the northern Adriatic, docking in the cruise cities of Venezia and Monfalcone. Taking the two settings as an example, it discusses the effects of the coexistence of cruise tourism and shipbuilding, and focuses on the fields of mobility, heritage, labour and environment.
